Vintage family shoot!

whoo hoo! Vanessa, Nick, and adorable Carson! After picking out some of my favorites from the day, i decided, this is going to have to be a two-parter. So here's part one!

Something i absolutely loved about this shoot is how excited and organized vanessa was! She got her hair and makeup done, had been working on fabulous outfits, and looking for perfect locations. she did such an amazing job!

As soon as we got to the museum, i asked Nick if he was excited, and in his honesty he said "not really." i'm only sharing this, because when we were done, Vanessa told me he thought it went so fast! This is encouragement for your spouse too! He'll get to hug and kiss on you a lot, and time will go fast!

Carson is such a good little boy, so cute- and Vanessa was prepared, she prepared danette, dominique and i with smarties for bribing. When it works, it works! She's a fantastic photographer, and always told me if you need candy, to use these, they're small enough, and don't stain clothes, and mouths! So if you're looking for something great, use these. Plus i learned these are great for horses too (well the wrapper anyway) , since the sound of crinkling will get his/her attention and it'll raise its ears too! perfect.

So here's a few photos from around the museum, and excited to share more soon!

This family is beautiful, and if you're thinking of doing a family photoshoot, let's think of something fun to do!

Thank you for letting me photograph you all! There are tons more, and i can't wait to show you!

3 lovely ladies.

Family in Texas.

If you've read the about me section, you'll know of three women i look up to for business, laughter, and character. While i was in Texas for my mom's wedding, i had the opportunity to also photograph my nana, aunt and mom for their business. (if you want to see my mom's wedding, click here.)

It was so much fun, and if i get to go back and visit my family there, i'd love to keep updating these fun photos!

All three thought up that they wanted to wear white, with red shoes. Their thought was to do a spot color of the cute red heels. i'm not normally a huge fan, but thought it was a cute way to show off their business color. They own a CPR business in Dallas called It's Breathtaking. I have to say they're fabulous at their job, making it fun, and bringing their big personalities, along with their big blonde hair.

So outside of my mom's house, and in we shot a few locations. here is what Corrine (my nana) had in mind.

My mom had this photo made into her business cards too, cute!

Corrine is really a remarkable woman. She's had a few of her own successful businesses, and is such a classy woman, and this is where her two daughters get it from too! And i'd like to think i have it in me too. i just have to get to the hair dresser, get some more blonde and i'd have that part down.

Another thing that impresses me about my nana is her strength. She recently was diagnosed with cancer, but i'm happy to announce is now cancer free! She's one tough cookie, and although i was worried, praying, and would've jumped on a plane if she got more sick, i really did feel like she'd get through it. I don't know many tough nanas like mine. Not to mention, when she was younger.. cutest legs ever! She was quite the hottie. still is. but she knows this. :)

Thank you Corrine, Searri, and my mom Starla for their belief in me, encouragement, and leading by example. Not to mention drive, crazy laughs, and turning any occasion into fun. I have some great family.. on both sides!

Arizona Adventure

Mini road trip to see brother in law, sister and to celebrate her birthday!

It was the perfect getaway, the drive down (about 5 hours) was a great time to just think, not allowing music to fill my head until i hit halfway. Spending time talking to my puppies, thinking about everything and enjoying the beautiful slight change in scenery. it wasn't a crazy vacation, just a nice relaxed time with some family. Exactly what i needed.

Arriving at 3 was perfect timing, the party was just starting, BBQ, cake, and some great friends! Eventually it died down, and Crissie and i spent some time in the movie room winding down from the night, and then, it was time to sleep.

The next morning felt absolutely perfect, it felt like i was at a bed and breakfast. I sat in the kitchen, watching the fan reflection turn on the spoon as i enjoyed classical music, chai latte, the door opened letting in the cool air, and a little IPad time. I was completely relaxed.

the view wasn't too bad either!

What i love about spending time with Crissie, is we can just sit around, chat and it's the best time. We didn't get out and explore too much, i wasn't there long enough, but i'll be visiting again when i can, hopefully with Brandon next time and we'll plan some fun stuff!

Eric met up with Crissie and me for lunch at an awesome little place called Ground Control. A fighter pilot that Eric knows actually started up the place, he roasts all his own coffee, sells it to other coffee shops too!

i was in love with this orange cream soda. delicious.

vacation eventually means relaxing on a couch after trying a new restaurant. Sitting under the covers with Conner and Murphy as we nap, and across from me, Crissie fell asleep too. ahh afternoon naps. What else could be better?

Exhausted puppies, and they slept the whole way home.

The drive back might have even been better than the drive there! In the dark, i could actually see the thousands of stars, and in Las Vegas you see like.. a hundred.. maybe. I didn't hit any snow on the way back, and it was so peaceful.

It was my first adventure away from Brandon that wasn't back to Minnesota and although i missed him like crazy and next time.. he will come with me!- It was nice to get out of Vegas, on my own and see some family again.

It was a perfect weekend getaway! Nice and relaxed here at home now.

So have you gone on any weekend getaways lately? Was it a long drive alone or was it a group of friends? Any favorite places i should know about for next time!? Even if you didn't get away this weekend, did you do anything fun, or discover something new? I discovered i want to make my own chai lattes.

My sister and brother in law

I have two wonderful sisters that i've always looked up to, even if it was watching them put on makeup in the bathroom with each visit; secretly thinking, "I can't wait til i have an Esprit bag." While in Minnesota i was so blessed to be pretty close to my beautiful sister Tara and her family! Getting to see her boys grow a little too! Crissie and i haven't lived in the same state since i was little, so when i moved to Las Vegas and she was here, i was so thrilled to be able to grow even closer to her. Though they made a huge decision to move back to Arizona a while ago, it was such a perfect time to be with the two of them. I could go to her to hang out, talk for hours, go to for advice, swim, be girly, and double date with her husband Eric, and Brandon. Boy i think he's absolutely perfect for Crissie. He's in the Air Force like my husband so there always was this bond i felt. That Crissie and I could get along and the boys could too.

It was such a great time when i moved from Minnesota and family was here, and see how happy Crissie is with Eric. Their love for one another truly is inspiring. They appreciate each other more than most couples i've ever seen, are constantly uplifting one another, encouraging and believing in their dreams. i think is just completely God-given is that their dreams align at the perfect time so that they work perfectly together. Timing is perfect with these two. I miss them like crazy now that they're gone, but even in the short time i learned so much about their relationship and through them, mine as well. There's another relationship i get to see and learn from, my mom and if you want to see her wedding photos, click here

Crissie and Eric got married in February and surprised everyone! But.. if you two are reading this, i still have big plans for fun photos including some awesome aircraft. be prepared. While they were here, we ventured out to a park and just took a few photos, including Eric's full of personality and excitement, daughter Anna. It was an absolute blast. Thank you two for teaching me so much, i'm so thankful for the time we had living so close.

Crissie and Eric just naturally fit and love on one another. It made my job easy, and so much fun! Anna is a complete ham too, loving the camera and most of the time with absolutely no direction, she has fun and includes herself in the photos. It's a beautiful family. I love how Eric kisses and pulls Crissie in and you can see their love for each other.

I plan on visiting these two when i get the chance, and seeing their huge fantastic home, and of course photographing them more!

Do you have some family favorites you want to share? Or even fun new edits you've learned, i recently re-edited some of  these and giving credit to Danette who showed me light leaks i'm definitely hooked.

Happy Tuesday!
